Abstract

This article is based on the text Vida precaria, by Judith Butler, and the short story by Mariana Enríquez Lo que perdimos en el fuego. The objective is to analyze the exposure and complicity with violence that place us in a condition of vulnerability and mourning within the framework of a community. Butler's intention is to rethink a community that embraces vulnerability and loss.

And from the story by Mariana Enriquez, where the main character is a woman who gets on the subway who has her face and arms disfigured by fire and asks for money, although she clarifies that it is not for her recovery, she was asking for money for her expenses, that the burns were made by her husband to whom she had been married for three years: Juan Martin Pozzi, who out of jealousy one night poured alcohol on her face. Every night she gets on the subway and greets passengers with a kiss, she dresses in tight clothes and transparencies, which according to the author was offensive. It is from several women who are burned by their partners that they decide to burn themselves, generating an atmosphere of weirdness in the story.

As a result of both, what I intend to highlight is the sense of community that emerges among women, as a precedent to address the emotions of a society in which inequality abounds, as well as the elaboration of grief, taking into account the vulnerability of women, but also the sensations caused by the proximity and visibility of those women who decide to burn themselves, show their scars and tell their stories.
