Author Guidelines

Protrepsis welcomes contributions on any subject of philosophy in the form of an academic article or essay. They must be -without exception- original and unpublished works. They must not be simultaneously submitted to any other journal or editorial body. The author(s) must provide proof of the above by including the Letter of Originality, which can be consulted and downloaded here [link].

The criteria of publishability, which detail the aspects of content, originality, disqualification of applications for violation of common rules, such as ideological, advertising or offensive content, as well as the procedure for manuscript submission and the steps that must necessarily be followed by all originals, are contained in the Publication Guidelines Manual, which can be consulted here [link].

The formal requirements that must be met by the original manuscript submitted to the journal, such as file characteristics (length, typography, spacing, etc.), citation and referencing, among others, are contained in the Editorial Guidelines Manual, which can be consulted here [link]. This manual is, for the most part, a compilation of the APA Style Manual 7th edition in English.

The rules that regulate the behavior of all those involved in the editorial process, such as the editor, editors, authors and reviewers, are expressed in the Code of Ethics and Conduct that can be consulted here [link].

Article selection process and timing
The originals received will undergo an internal review by the editorial team to ensure that they meet the general requirements for publication. If any non-compliance is identified, the author will be informed via e-mail so that he/she can make the necessary corrections or decline the postulation of his/her collaboration in the journal.

Peer review process

If the general requirements are met, the academic articles will be submitted to a double-blind peer review process. All referees considered for this work will be external and with verifiable experience in the area or subject matter of the article. This method guarantees that neither the author or authors know the identity of the referees and vice versa. Any incident that requires revealing the identity of the participants will be duly evaluated and determined by the editorial team.

Only academic articles in the Dossier and Agora sections are submitted to peer review, the rest of the contributions follow a careful selection and editing process based on the journal's regulations expressed in its different documents.

The result derived from the editing and peer review process can be any of the following:

1. Acceptance. If it is suggested that the original be published without substantial modifications, except for those of form and style deemed necessary.
2. Conditional acceptance. If the author is asked to make the corrections indicated in the observations and/or the attached file with indications. It is the editorial team, under the advice of the members of the Scientific Advisory Board, who determine whether the author's modifications satisfy the requests of the reviewers.
4. Rejection.If it is requested that the contribution not be published in its current form. The modifications required, if made, would turn it into a new article that must be postulated as a new collaboration and go through the aforementioned process again.

In case there is an opinion of acceptance and an opinion of rejection or conditional rejection, it will be sent to a third arbitrator, who will have the decisive vote for the publication or not of the article.

The evaluation will take place during the 3 months following the reception of the paper and the publication will take place during the following 6 months.
