The New Realism of Ferraris, notion of reality and theory of objects
Abstract
The New Realism of the Italian philosopher Maurizio Ferraris, influenced by representative figures of postmodern philosophy such as Gianni Vattimo and Jacques Derrida, aims to reevaluate both postmodern and realist intuition, to define the limits within which each can be legitimately applied, and to reclaim reality as an instance that is prior to and independent of us and our interpretations, serving as both a limit and a foundation. It is argued that the lack of clarity in fundamental concepts, such as time, within his theory of objects leads to inconsistencies and ambiguities that prevent a consistent notion of reality within his own theoretical framework.
